The Martyrdom of St Stephen

  "...They saw that his face was like the face of an angel...[and] full of the Holy Spirit, Stephen looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God...he prayed 'Lord do not hold this sin against them.' When he had said this he fell asleep."  (1.

       In creating this work I tried to take what I saw as the essence of the Stephen story and combine it into one moment.  Saint Stephen, as one of the most Christ-like stories in the Bible, has always been one of my favorites.  When I got the inspiration to do this piece I was very moved.
